1️⃣ Colores y Símbolos: El Lenguaje del Monte
En el universo del Palo Mayombe, los colores no son meros adornos, sino conductores de energía. El rojo y el negro dominan el espacio ritual, representando la dualidad entre la fuerza vital y el misterio de lo desconocido. El blanco, por su parte, aporta la pureza necesaria para equilibrar las fuerzas espirituales.
El símbolo central es la Nganga (o Prenda), un caldero de hierro que actúa como un microcosmos donde reside el Nfumbe (espíritu del muerto). Junto a ella, las Patipembas o firmas —trazos sagrados realizados con yeso— funcionan como portales que permiten la comunicación directa con las entidades del monte.

El palero no solo rinde culto, sino que "trabaja" con las fuerzas de la naturaleza. Su dominio principal es el Monte (la manigua), considerado un templo vivo donde cada planta y piedra posee un espíritu propio. Las deidades o Mpungos, como Lucero Mundo (el guardián de los caminos) y Zarabanda (el señor del hierro), rigen aspectos fundamentales de la existencia humana.
El atributo más distintivo de esta tradición es la capacidad de canalizar la energía de los ancestros a través del Mpaka, un cuerno de buey cargado de elementos mágicos que sirve como oráculo para "ver" más allá del velo material.

Typical offerings include malafo (moonshine), tobacco, candles, and fula (gunpowder), elements that "feed" and activate the foundation. However, there are strict prohibitions: an initiate must never reveal the secrets of their oath nor act without the proper license from their elders.
As the palero saying goes: "A stick that is of no use does not go to the forest," reminding us that on this path, only truth and righteousness endure. An ancient patakí tells how Lucero Mundo, thanks to his cunning and loyalty to Nzambi (God), received the keys to all destinies, becoming the mandatory first step of any ritual.
